Lai Bou Leong (“Bou“) graduated from the National University of Singapore with a BSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry. After a brief period in Virology research, Bou embarked on a successful career spanning more than 28 years in the Healthcare/Biotechnology spectrum in Asia Pacific.
In 1989, Bou Leong sold and commissioned the first Computerized Cytogenetics Imaging System in South East Asia. He then went on to work for several global companies such as Baxter, Steris and Fresenius. One of his key achievements was revolutionizing the way dialysis is delivered at a major correctional facility. Bou led Fresenius Medical Care‘s Singapore operations through a period of rapid expansion from 2000 to 2011 via a combination of organic sales growth, joint-ventures and acquisitions.
Today, Bou Leong is Principal Consultant of the MedTech/Life Sciences Consulting Practice, B.O.U. Consulting which he founded. Bou has advised various companies on business development and market entry into Asia Pacific. His expertise covers Consumer Healthcare, Emerging Technologies in Biotech, Pharma and Medical Devices.
Bou manages the South East Asian office of the Passion Investment Group, based in Singapore.
Bou is a member of Rotary International and had served as President to the Rotary Club of Singapore West in 2009/10 and held successive Rotary District appointments thereafter. Bou and his wife Shynna has 2 children and together they are active volunteers with the Ministry of Social and Family Development in Singapore.
